How to Choose the Mattress

The bedroom is the room of the house in which we spend more time in absolute bargain once indispensable to regenerate our body daily through sleep. But woe if the rest is not perfect. And the bed is the element that welcomes us for at least eight hours a day and that are appreciated for its importance, especially when we are forced to give it up, even partially. But the part of the bed is most important is the mattress, and should be chosen with care.

Choosing the best mattress

The period of sleep and sleep is crucial to recover all the energy that the stress, and the hectic pace of modern life make us spend: if we add that often sleep may be disturbed by other factors (bad habits, rheumatic disorders, poor nutrition, situations of psychological tension), it is clear that the choice of the mattress for our bed to be assessed very carefully, taking into account a number of parameters prior to its purchase.

Mattresses layered pressed

For example-spring-pressed, in kapok or horsehair. These structures are designed specifically for people allergic (kapok is kind of batting that is obtained from the fruit of a tropical plant), which need to be ventilated with the utmost care.

Spring mattresses

The spring mattresses are more common. One can distinguish between pocket springs and biconical: the first is characterized by the fact that each spring moves independently of the other, and guarantee, compared to the biconical, an ergonomically superior by virtue of different capacity. Both types, in any case, provide an optimal breathability, apart from ‘padding that is used, provided that they are composed of a minimum of 480 springs.

Waterbeds and combined

While the combined mattresses are made using layers of different materials combined (wool, coconut, horsehair, latex, etc.), water mattresses are elastic and moldable, due to the movement of the internal liquid. Empire most common in Italian homes, they do not allow the moisture to disperse downwards, being waterproof and airtight, and consequently, avoid perspiration. It should adjust in the best way the water temperature, to avoid that during sleep sweat excessively.

Viscoelastic foam mattresses

On the market, then, we find the viscoelastic foam mattresses (or memory foam), which ensure that the pressure of the body is distributed in a homogeneous way. In this case, you have to deal with the disadvantage of hardening of the foam in the case where the room temperature is too low; Furthermore, the depressions caused by the body weight may be for limiting the freedom of movement.

Polyurethane foam mattresses, natural and futon

Definitely more flexible they are, instead, the mattresses made of polyurethane foam, elastic and comfortable, which assume that the lower part of the bed is open; and futon, consisting of a single layer of wool or cotton, possibly mixed with coconut fiber and latex. One of the latest is represented by natural mattresses, which are made of materials not subjected to any treatment, absolutely natural, and that can be customized according to the requirements in the event that are composed of stacked layers and non-enveloped.

Latex mattresses

Finally, it cannot be forgotten latex mattresses (or latex mixed with horsehair, or latex mixed with coconut: where, in short, the function of the latex is to binder) usually have the quality mark QUL, indicating the veracity indications regarding the components used and ensures that no harmful substances have been used.
